Dr. Joseph Shapiro:

Dr. Joseph Shapiro was born and raised in Long Beach, California. He attended college at the University of California, San Diego where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in General Biology along with a minor in Theater. He then moved to New York where he earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Shapiro served his internal medicine internship and residency at the University of California, Irvine. He was a fellow of adult and pediatric Allergy and Immunology at Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles. During his fellowship, Dr. Shapiro spent a significant portion of his training at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. He is board certified in Adult and Pediatric Allergy & Immunology and Internal Medicine.
Although Dr. Shapiro spends most of his time in our Studio City and Granada Hills office, he also staffs clinics in underserved areas of Los Angeles. He is a strong advocate for patient education, giving community lectures and organizing community fairs on the topics of asthma and allergies.

| Dr. Shapiro is an active board member of the Los Angeles Society of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology as well as a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. He is also an active staff member of several Los Angeles area hospitals.
Dr. Shapiro is married with three daughters. He likes to spend his free time in the water, whether swimming, fishing, surfing, or any other activity that gets him wet.
